Beacon Park Tennis Courts new surface overhead

Beacon Park Tennis (BPT) will be launching new tennis courts on August 9th, 2020.

In 2017, five regular attendees of Tennis For Free sessions, with a wish to resurface the courts and zero money in the bank, formed a charity to try and save the courts that have been around for 85 years.

The courts were degrading and the local authority had no funding available for refurbishment. Without an intervention, the public tennis facility in central Lichfield would have been lost forever.

Fast forward three years and our charity is extremely proud of its achievement of serving up a sustainable tennis facility in the middle of the spectacular Beacon Park which is accessible to the entire community.

Through a series of low-cost, first-class facilities and free coaching-led sessions, we are able to continue promoting tennis, fun and encouraging people from all walks of life to be healthy through the Tennis For Free initiative.

After a lot of hard work, we successfully managed to source funding for much-needed resurfacing and ongoing maintenance from like-minded organisations.

Thanks to theirs generosity, we able to continue to:

  • Promote healthy living through fitness
  • Provide a facility that can be used by local schools and netball clubs
  • Provide a programme of tennis and other sporting activities for Lichfield and promote tennis participation for all ages

Watch this space for news as we are planning to have an official launch of the courts next year, once things calm down regarding Covid 19 and we can all enjoy the freedom of planning tennis on these wonderful brand new courts.
